Prepress Operator

SUMMARY: The PrePress Operator is responsible for effectively utilize software to manipulate files for printing, operate digital printing equipment and aid in finishing processes

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate artwork to determine if it meets production specifications.
  • Communicate with cliients regarding usability of artwork.
  • Communicate with clients when necessary to determine artwork requirements.
  • Inspect each job ticket for proper number out, materials, notes/instructions from sales, and total quantity including sub jobs.
  • Prepare files for production, including trapping and color adjustment. Proof all work prior to sending to other departments and Create digital proofs to be sent to clients for approval.
  • Create impositions and generate plates using Heidelberg Prinect.
  • Monitor press schedule and make sure plates are ready for press on time.
  • Inspect plates for every job: proper sensor marks, cut marks, etc.
  • Verify all color separations are plated and clipped together with corresponding job ticket.
  • Keep plates labeled, organized and stored in designated areas.
  • Maintain production equipment such as proofers, plate processors and imagers.
  • Perform computer maintenance, i.e. file storage in designated areas, file backup to tape or disk as required.
  • Proficient using print and design software including Adobe Creative Suite Products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop & Acrobat)
  • Must possess a strong print background and a working understanding of the print methods used in this environment; e.g. offset and flexographic printing. Knowledge and understanding of basic stripping.
  • Perform color corrections when necessary to process color files
  • Follow quality control standards, and communicate in technical terms with customer service, sales, press, and bindery department
  • Provide thorough training to employees including but not limited to new hires, transfers, and newly promoted employees as needed

Estimator

SUMMARY: Talented, detail oriented and motivated Estimator/Customer Service Representative who genuinely cares about what they do. A good sense of humor, resourceful mindset and ability to multitask is essential.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Estimate internal costs of materials based on job specifications
  • Project coordination, installation research and scheduling
  • Determine the production centers and routing needed to produce the job as specified
  • Lead and schedule pre/post meetings for large rollouts with appointed operations team
  • Calculate costs associated with product and vendor resourcing
  • Use internal or external sources to help establish best materials and processes for RFQ’s
  • Establish a consultative approach with clients and sales
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of material price changes and competitive pricing
  • Evaluating bid invites by reviewing specs and elevation plans
  • Utilize bidding software (MFG or Control) to build bids and submit to customers/sales
  • Constant communication with internal sales team and project managers
  • Utilize internal billing software to generate work orders and invoices.
  • Process incoming orders from customers.
  • Advise customers on substrates and media to best meet their graphic needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Solid working knowledge of large format printing, offset printing, digital printing, packaging, finishing processes and materials.
  • Understanding of project scope and how it relates to other trades
  • Knowledgeable in the movement of materials through the manufacturing process
  • Positive and professional attitude with written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently with creative problem solving skills
  • Strong background in Outlook and Microsoft Suite (Adobe Suite is a plus)
  • Above average math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Must be able to use and read a tape measure

Packer

SUMMARY:The packer is responsible for selecting and packing customer printed products in an efficient manner.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate with main cutter operator at all times for instructions, to know which form/batch is being cut, and specification thereof
  • Identify quantity of form and type of stock to secure correct boxes for packing of product
  • Off-load product from cutter tables and ensure order sticker label is eligible and visible for delivery
  • Conduct initial inspection of products to ensure quality control
  • Accurately and safely box completed jobs and notify quality control teammate/supervisor when completed boxes are ready for inspection
  • Make new boxes and replenish box supply to inventory standard
  • Place boxes in appropriate floor locations under/near packing table
  • When bin is full of stock relocate bin to back lot, for recycling, and replace bin with an empty one found at the same location
  • Always have required materials on hand, organized and replenished (boxes, tape guns, filling, chipboard dividers, and markers)
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstation are in good working order and is free of safety hazards
  • Complete and maintain all paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Immediately report any and all workplace hazards to management
  • Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
  • Report all work related injuries, illnesses, and/or near misses to management immediately
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, such as: (keeping floors swept absent of debris that may be a work hazard, workstation organized etc.)
  • Provide thorough training to employees including but not limited to new hires, transfers, and newly promoted employees as needed

Production Supervisor

SUMMARY: A successful Production Shift Supervisor takes full responsibility for the safety, quality, delivery and labor management on their shift through the proper management of people, process and equipment in the facility.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates daily production management including work prioritization and equipment output targets.
  • Oversees daily shift labor management including overtime schedules & cross-training on their respective shift
  • Actively monitors and manages productivity levels, and material inventory practices following the company guidelines
  • Act as the primary escalation point for production and maintenance issues on their shift, and communicate accordingly
  • Lead and maintain a safety culture that exceeds company requirements in accident and injury prevention frequency rates
  • Maintain all safety compliance and reporting standards in accordance with company and OSHA regulations
  • Assists Management/ HR in the completion of safety training and all incident/accident/near miss investigations
  • Support the Production Manager and Plant Manager in implementing and enforcing company policies and procedures uniformly and fairly
  • Ensure that all employees know and understand company and customer quality requirements and production standards
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement projects and implementation of projects on his/her shift
  • Liaise with internal departments to assist in resolving customer service/quality issues and customer escalations
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstation are in good working order and are free of safety hazards
  • Ensure housekeeping standards and regular plant safe work standards are followed on their shift
  • Other responsibilities and tasks may be assigned

PEOPLE MANAGMENT:

  • Evaluates and makes hiring decisions including reviewing job applications, interviewing and selecting candidates.
  • Sets the standards for performance assessment and feedback, effective communication promoting positive morale and supporting team effectiveness

  • Preference of knowledge in print and bindery devices such as sheetfed printing presses, cutting and bindery equipment, and mailing equipment
  • Must be IT literate, especially with production management information systems, inventory, and scheduling software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel & email applications
  • Strong Communicator – able to motivate a multi-skilled team in a fast-paced environment

Shipping Clerk

SUMMARY: The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for processing and fulfilling customer orders. This position will require the operation of a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack and count merchandise. The Clerk is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform packer duties.

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped, efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas.
  • Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare internal material transfers for shipping.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers
  • Ensure that outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage and report quality variances
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Report all work related injuries, illnesses, and/or near misses to management immediately.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, such as keeping floors swept and absent of debris that may be a work hazard.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant shipping experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting
  • Experience in operating sit-down forklifts
  • Computer literate
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Basic math, English skills and recording abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to work flexible, extended hours and weekends as required
  • Great communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High school diploma

Customer Service Representative

SUMMARY: The purpose of this role is to provide customers with solutions by providing a high level of service in a contact center/call center environment and the ability to develop and retain relationships through listening and implementing a successful plan of action. The Customer Service Representative (CSR) resolves a wide variety of issues through customer education, thorough follow up and dedication to provide a positive customer experience.

  • Educate and assist customer base on company website, products and services
  • Resolve customer concerns in a quality oriented way to produce a positive outcome
  • Provide customer feedback to department for new product and resource development
